The Marketing Manager Case
(Using Google Data Studio)

The Scenario

  1. You are the Marketing Manager of a company with an active website, which your team updates regularly.
  2. You monitor your website in a daily basis using Google Analytics.
  3. You run AdWords campaigns in a permanent basis.
  4. You would also like to know how your website is doing on Google search organic results.
  5. You have setup some Google Analytics reports for you, your brand managers and your Marketing Director to receive regularly in your e-mail. These reports are nice to have, but they are pdfs with no interactioncapabilities.
  6. You also have an active Facebook Page. You post promoted content regularly, sending traffic to your website.
  7. You run tv ads in a regular basis. You get weekly or monthly reports for these ads from your media shop. Again no interaction with these reports is available.
  8. You also promote your product/ service through a coupons platform with some discount. The platform sends you a report in a monthly basis, with data about requested and redeemed coupons.

What are the key issues you are facing?

  1. It is obvious that in a great extent, marketing activities interact and affect each other.
  2. A user might see a Facebook post, visit your website, then see an AdWords ad or a TV ad, and then decide to buy your product or service, using a coupons platform.
  3. In order to check how your marketing activities are performing, you need to ask a lot of people to prepare a lot of reports for you to check.
  4. So you get your hands on all these reports, but your data is scattered and in many cases incompatible.
  5. Data come from different platforms, in different format, from different stakeholders/ partners, which might even have confidentiality issues with each other.
  6. Formatting all data together requires extensive manipulation and significant data entry from your side, every time you need to add new data to your analysis.
  7. Extensive data entry means a lot of time needed to generate a new report.
  8. Extensive data entry, also means that there is room for errors, from simple typing errors to serious miscalculations.
  9. You are also getting data periodically and this means that you are losing the 'continuity' effect of your marketing campaigns.
  10. If you decide to add a new source of data, you will probably need to design your dashboards and reports all over again.
  11. All the above apart from being time consuming, certainly jeopardise data integrity, while you can't be certain for the final outcome.
  12. Sharing info can also become a problem, since different stakeholders require different info, and different level of access to the provided info.

  2. Additionally, ReportGuru facilitates adding data from different sources in a simple, straight forward way.
  3. ReportGuru manipulates your data files automatically, so you dont need to do this everytime you add new data.
  4. ReportGuru provides the opportunity to use different data sources in a single dashboard to reveal the correlation between different marketing activities.
  5. You can have interactive dynamic dashboards with explanatory graphs and data tables, to analyze and visualize your data.
  6. ReportGuru will host and maintain all necessary infrastructure for your data analysis and data visualization.

  8. Sharing info becomes piece of cake. All you need to do is pass the link to the dashboard to anyone you want to share the info with.
  9. Anybody with the link can check the dashboard. No need for gmail accounts, granting access and all these scary stuff, in order to view the dashboard.
  10. Different dashboards can be developed in order to share the info anyway you like. E.g. Brand Managers can have dashboards just for their brands, while the Marketing Director can have a single dashboard for all marketing activities.
  11. ReportGuru also provides extensive expansion capabilities. If you need to add, let's say sales data to your reports, you can easily do so.
  12. ReportGuru can store and manipulate lots of data (millions of records), very fast and reliable.
  13. ***Additional bonus: ReportGuru provides a custom made url builder in order for you to always have uniform tracking codes for your campaigns in Google Analytics. The custom url builder tool will store your campaigns, brands and activities, so you can use them again and again if needed.***
